Keeping active

We like to do lots of fun active things in our class.  We have a climbing frame in the class sometimes.

When the weather is good we go outside on the bikes

We also enjoy our PE lessons with the PE teacher and Mrs McElroy. We have been jumping and climbing using the gymnastic equipment this term.

 .

We swim every week and we have all made fantastic progress this year in the new pool. Two of the class got their deep ender certificates recently. Well done !

Christmas shopping

Last week we went in the school van to go shopping in Shearers  and Glue's
We wanted to buy ingredients for our cooking, to buy a Christmas tree and some decorations.

We enjoyed looking at all the things in the shops.
There was a giant bear beside the Christmas trees

The men helped us choose a special tree. They gave us a big fright when they took it out of the sock and banged it on the ground. It made the branches spread out beautifully.

We chose a really big tree and then we got the men to put it back in a sock. This was amazing.
They put the tree into the green ring and Marie pulled it out at the other side.
We said WOW! when we saw it get smaller.
Marie carried the tree back to the van.

We then went to Glues and looked at the decorations.

We chose 1 decoration each to put on our tree.

We also saw some budgies which weren't for sale. They were very big.

We had to run quickly back to the van  because of the big hailstones.

First Snow

The children were very excited to see snow on Tuesday. On Monday one of the class had told us that it was going to snow when we did our check in. She has seen it on the weather forecast. We discussed what clothing we would wear in the snow and why we needed to wear it. Everyone came to school on Tuesday with wellies and warm clothing ready to have fun in the snow.

We had fun playing in the snow, making foot prints and throwing snowballs.

One of the class made 2 big snowballs and wanted to make a peedie snowman. We took it into the class and using buttons and ribbon made the peedie person.
Unfortunately he melted and everyone was sad. Next time we will leave him outside.

One person from another class collected the last of the snow and made a giant snowball.
Watch out!!

We can't wait until it snows again. :)

Children in Need 2013

On Friday 15th we raised money for Children in need.
We raised over £600 by dressing up, guessing things, playing games and buying things.

On Friday we went to the hall to see the final of the beat the goalie competition.
Michael the janitor had to try to save the goals.

We then had a fancy dress parade and Mrs Miller chose the best dressed person to win the prize.
It was the Dalek .

Horse riding

Every few weeks some of our class go horse riding.

We go on the school minibus which is fun.

We have to wear a safety hat and we must listen carefully to instructions.

The horses are really big but we don't mind.

We like trotting with the horses.

Reading cafe

We are really enjoying working with class 2/3 for reading café.
In week 1 we chose a book that fitted us using the ' I PICK' method. This method makes sure we choose a book where we know most of the words and we can understand their meaning or we can read the story using the pictures. It also has to be a book that interested us.

In week 2 we had to read a book to friend using the EEKK method, elbow to elbow, knee to knee
We really enjoyed reading to our friends and drew pictures with them about the stories.

This week we listened to stories by the author Roald Dahl and made finger puppet foxes.
Some of the stories were very funny especially George's Marvellous Medicine.

Next week we will be watching some different stories. We are all really enjoying the reading café.
